Thursday, May 2 2019
The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Engineering announced a major injection of 1.5M$ to the Faculty’s MakerLaunch program.
The announcement was made at the University’s newly completed STEM Complex, during an event that also served as the unveiling of the first cohort of startups participating in MakerLaunch over the summer and fall of 2019. Founding members of startups Noibu, Wandure and Gamestrat were invited to speak and mingle with University members and partners of MakerLaunch.
Attending the event were Shopify CTO Jean-Michel Lemieux and serial entrepreneur and angel investor Simon Nehme, both of whom are MakerLaunch founding partners and uOttawa alumni. They were also joined by corporate partner Natalie Raffoul, managing partner at Brion Raffoul Intellectual Properties, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Jacques Beauvais to form a panel discussing the importance of entrepreneurship in Canada’s capital region.
